Dropped $400 on a fancy remote control system, went back to the rope after a month

Bought one of those wireless load indicators and remote rigging setups off a trade show in Dallas, figured it would speed up my picks on this high-rise job. Took me three days to program the thing, then it glitched mid-lift and dropped a pallet of brick about 20 feet onto a parked dumpster, lucky nobody was under it. Cost me a half day of downtime plus the rental fee, and now my foreman jokes every time I pull out the old tag line, but has anyone else had these electronics just fail at the worst moment?
