Got a scare on a 90 ton crawler near the Port of Savannah last month

I was picking a big generator off a flatbed last month at the container yard near the Port of Savannah. The wind was kicking up maybe 15-20 knots and I thought I had enough swing radius clear. But the load started to twist on me and I barely clipped a stack of empty containers with the corner of the generator. Nobody saw it and no damage to the load or the containers but it shook me up bad. I've been running cranes for 7 years and that was the closest I've come to a real accident. Now I always take an extra minute to check the wind and re-walk my path before I move anything. Has anyone else had a close call that made you change your pre-lift routine for good?

I mean, idk, maybe it's just me but isn't overthinking one close call kind of a waste when you've got 7 years of running big lifts without issue?

Yeah but @the_anna you ever had a buddy who was a firefighter for a decade and almost slipped on a wet floor, then suddenly wouldn't walk anywhere without checking for puddles first?
