Got shut down on a job at the Port of Savannah last Tuesday

I was set to lift a 40-foot container off a flatbed and the site supervisor decided my swing radius was too close to a fence line. He made me re-rig the whole thing with a shorter spreader bar and it took an extra 45 minutes. Has anyone else dealt with port supervisors who change the plan after you're already set up?

Yeah that sounds about right. They got a safety guy down there who has to sign off on every lift and if he's having a bad day you're re-rigging. Last time I was at the Port of Charleston I had a yard dog driver honk at me for 10 minutes while I was trying to get a twistlock to seat right. Supervisors dont care about your timeline once you're already set up. Its just how it goes down there.

Maybe the real issue is that nobody's bothered to look at why the safety guy is having bad days in the first place. If he's stressed or rushed, that's gonna trickle down to everyone else's schedule. Idk, seems like fixing his workload would sort out half the re-rigging problems.
