Had a younger operator call me out on my lube routine last Tuesday

This guy, maybe 25 years old, watched me hit the sheave pins with that aerosol can and he just shook his head. He said I was wasting my time and half the lubricant was just blowing away in the wind. Then he showed me this little $15 pump oiler he uses, the kind with a metal tip you can aim. We were on a job site over by the old mill on River Road, and I'll be honest, I mostly ignored him till I saw his machine running quieter than mine at the end of the day. Now I gotta figure out if I should switch or just use his trick for the tough spots. Anyone else had a young buck teach them something about maintenance they thought they knew?
