Just hit 1,000 hours running a tower crane, never thought I'd get here
Started counting when I got my certification back in 2021, and this morning I passed 1,000 hours up in the cab. I remember my first week, I was terrified of the swing. The guy training me said, 'you'll know you're getting it when the load feels like an extension of your arm.' Took me 400 hours to even start feeling that. But now I'm doing picks in 25 mph wind without breaking a sweat. My question is, for you guys who have been at it longer, does the fear ever fully go away or just get quieter? I still get a little tight on tight urban jobs with pedestrians below.
