Old way of doing tandem lifts vs the new way - what changed for you?
I learned from an old-timer who swore by hand signals only for tandem lifts. No radios, just two guys watching each other. Worked fine for 20 years. But last month we had a 40-ton HVAC unit to set on a hospital roof in Portland and the foreman insisted on radios. Said it was safer. I gotta admit, it was smoother. No misreads. But I still feel like you lose something when you are not watching the other operator. Which way do you guys go with for big tandem jobs?
