Running a 150-ton crawler on a muddy site taught me that old school cable rigging beats any new wireless load indicator when you need to feel the lift.

After the wireless unit on my last job in Seattle glitched and dropped a 5-ton beam 3 inches, I switched back to my grandad's cable system and haven't missed a signal since, so who else has ditched the fancy tech for something simpler?

Ever worry about an EMP frying your wireless gear?

My router can't even survive a power flicker, let alone an EMP.

Did your router just give up after like a half second blip? Honestly mine does the same thing, it's ridiculous. Tbh I had an old power strip once that was supposed to have surge protection but it just tripped the breaker anytime a storm rolled through. Ngl I ended up wrapping the whole thing in tinfoil one time as a joke, and it actually worked better for a day before I realized I was blocking the wifi signal.
