Stopped trusting the load chart after 22 years, then a test proved it wrong

I ran a 55 ton Grove for a decade and always double checked the chart with my own math. Last fall a safety guy insisted we do a pick with the rated load exactly, not my usual 80% rule. I was sure the crane would tip or the boom would flex weird. It held fine, smooth as glass. That was the day I realized my caution was more habit than fact, and the charts actually account for things I never considered like wind on the boom. Anyone else ever had a load chart call that looked wrong but turned out right?
