Switched from hand signals to radio comms 6 months ago on a Seattle highrise

I used to rely on hand signals for every pick, but after a miscommunication nearly dropped a steel beam on a drywall crew, I grabbed a two-way setup. Now I can talk the operator through tight spots without waving my arms like a crazy person. Has anyone else made the switch and found it speeds things up or just adds more chatter?

Saw a safety report that said radio comms cut crane injuries by nearly half on urban sites.

Honestly, I was one of those guys who swore by hand signals and thought radios were just extra noise. But after reading about that near miss with the steel beam, I finally tried a set on my last job. Now I get it, being able to talk through the tight spots without all that arm waving really does speed things up.
