That 10 ton overload test on the Liebherr LTM 1050 had me nervous for a full 20 seconds
I was sure the load chart was being generous on that one, but after the crane settled at exactly 49 feet of boom and the indicator stayed green, I finally trusted the computer over my gut feeling; anyone else have their doubts about a specific machine's rated capacity at a weird angle?

They settled at exactly 49 feet and the indicator stayed green" - honestly though, a lot of these load charts have a pretty generous safety margin built in, so it's probably fine.

The Cat 745 we had on a job last summer showed 48.6 feet on the display but the actual grade rod measurement came back at 47.2. The sensor drift on those units is no joke after a few hours of running. I remember the manual even says something like "display may show within 2 feet of actual" but nobody reads that part lol. So 49 feet on the screen could be anywhere from 47 to 51 in reality depending on how long the truck has been running and the temperature. That green light just means it passed the minimum threshold, not that it's actually accurate.
