Unpopular opinion: The old school two-block pick is still better than a single hook for tight spaces

I was on a site in Cleveland last month, lifting HVAC units onto a narrow rooftop. The foreman insisted on using a single hook setup for speed. We had one unit swing and nearly clip a vent stack. Next day, I set up the two-block method from my old rigging book. Having that second point of control let me walk the load right into place without any drift. Has anyone else had to push back on the 'faster is better' mindset for precision work?

Slow is smooth and smooth is fast, right?

That smooth is fast idea only works if you're already good at something. If you're new, going slow just means you're bad at it for a longer time. You have to push the speed to actually get better.

Yeah, tell that to my coffee maker this morning. Slow was just a mess.
