Appreciation post: the 40 page disaster I typed in a Denver motel room back in March

I wrote 40 pages of nonsense in one night, then my buddy read it and said the diner scene on page 12 was the only real part. So do I cut everything else and build from that scene, or keep the mess and fix it later?
