DAE find their local cafe drama becoming writing prompt fuel?

I overheard a full blown argument about oat milk vs almond milk that turned into a whispered saga about corporate espionage. Now every time I go in, I'm mentally drafting a noir mystery based on the baristas' side glances. What's the most everyday thing you've seen twisted into a prompt idea lately?

Grab a tiny notebook or use your phone notes. Overheard a guy yelling about his missing garden gnome once. Wrote a whole heist outline based on that. Watch people in line at the post office. Their weird packages are always a story.

Overhearing conversations always feels forced for me. My own head makes up weirder stuff anyway.

Honestly I get what you mean about it feeling forced. Tbh my own brain comes up with way more interesting stuff than most real conversations too. But what @willow_mitchell said about the post office line is kinda true, people do have weird energy there. Is it that you feel awkward listening in, or does the real stuff just never seem as good as your own ideas?
