Just realized setting a 10 minute timer for a prompt forces me to write something, anything, and it actually works.

Yeah the timer thing is so real. I mean I do something similar but with my phone camera roll. If I'm stuck I'll just open a random photo from like two years ago and make myself write three sentences about what was happening. It doesn't have to be good, it just has to exist. Somehow tricking my brain into starting with a totally different prompt works way better than staring at a blank page.

Oh that's smart! Though I think the timer trick is actually from a book, not a blog post.

That 'it doesn't have to be good, it just has to exist' thing is gold. I do something kind of dumb where I'll just type the same random word over and over until my brain gets bored and decides to write something real just to stop me.
