My fantasy novel prompt got roasted by a librarian in Portland last Thursday

I pitched a story about a magical library where books come alive and attack the readers. The librarian at the Multnomah County branch looked at me and said 'So it's just a horror version of your typical overdue book problem?' Then she pointed out that the plot hole was bigger than the library itself - how do the books stay organized if they're fighting everyone? Has anyone else had a writing prompt get completely dismantled by someone with zero patience for fantasy?

Oh jeez, does every little detail need to hold up to that kind of scrutiny? I think some people just enjoy picking apart fun ideas instead of going along for the ride.

Oh man, that reminds me of the time I pitched a dragon story and a guy asked me how they don't burn their own eggs!
