My writing prompt notebook got soaked at the beach last weekend
I was jotting down ideas at Santa Monica, and a big wave came out of nowhere. My whole notebook, with about 30 half-baked prompts, got soaked. I spent an hour carefully peeling pages apart on a towel. Some of the ink ran, so now I have prompts like 'a detective who can only solve crimes on Tuesdays' mixed with a blurry grocery list. Has anyone salvaged a waterlogged idea journal before?

Man that sounds rough, especially with the ink running. Did any of the smudged prompts accidentally create a new, better idea from the mess? Like, a detective who solves crimes based on smeared grocery lists sounds kind of cool.

That detective idea is actually pretty solid. I read a short story once where a guy solved a murder because the victim's shopping list had weird smudges.
