Pro tip: I used to think a good prompt needed a whole fantasy world, but a guy at my writing group in Austin changed my mind last month.

He gave us a simple one: 'Write about a character who finds a single red shoe in a public park, and must get it home without being seen.' That single object and clear goal sparked way better stories than my epic quest ideas. What's a simple object prompt that worked for you?

Heard about a friend who wrote from a lost grocery list prompt.
