Prompt-a-day apps vs. prompt-a-week notebooks

I spent 3 months using a daily prompt app from the app store, but the prompts all started feeling samey after week two. Then I grabbed a plain notebook and wrote down 30 prompts myself from news headlines and overheard conversations, and the stories came out way more original. Has anyone else found that making your own prompts beats any generator out there?
