PSA: I blew $75 on a "write every day" prompt journal and it was a trap
Filled maybe 9 pages in 3 months because the prompts were all stuff like "describe a door" with zero stakes, and I could've gotten the same list free on any blog. If you've got a prompt book you actually finished, what made it work?
Bought one of those too and hit the same wall. What finally worked for me was ditching the fancy journal and just using a cheap notebook with my own rules. I gave myself a real reason to write, like a scene I had to finish before bed or a story I owed a friend, so there was a tiny bit of pressure. Prompts like "describe a door" have no consequence, so my brain just shrugs and does nothing. Pick something with a deadline or a person waiting, even if it's just you posting it somewhere. Turns out I don't need better prompts, I need a reason to care.
