Spent 4 hours trying to fix a plot hole that didn't exist
I was writing a short story about a time traveler who leaves a notebook behind in 1923. Spent a whole evening trying to figure out how the notebook wouldn't fall apart or get lost over a century. Then my wife pointed out I could just say the main character wrapped it in oilcloth. That took me about 4 hours of staring at my screen. Anyone else ever get stuck on something that simple?

Yeah I spent three hours naming a dog once. Not my proudest moment.

Gotta love when the solution was literally sitting there the whole time just waiting for someone else to point it out. Bet that oilcloth idea hit you like a ton of bricks the second she said it. We've all been there though, overthinking stuff that a fresh pair of eyes could fix in ten seconds flat.
