Talked to my brother's kid about writing prompts, it stuck with me

Caught up with my nephew in Des Moines last week, he said prompts feel like homework, not like sandbox toys. Made me rethink how much I lean on 'what if' set ups versus just letting a scene breathe. Anyone else adjust their prompt style after talking to a younger writer?
