The 100th writing prompt that made me want to quit the community
Everyone seems to be celebrating milestone numbers, but hitting 100 prompts posted in this sub actually made me realize how much of my writing was just repeating the same tired tropes. I went back through my archive from January through March and counted 42 variations of 'a door opens to a strange world,' which is kind of embarrassing for someone in Kansas City who claims to be original. The number mattered because it forced me to start using random generators and local news headlines for ideas, and honestly the weird stuff like a prompt about a frozen vending machine in Topeka worked way better. Has anyone else had a milestone that made them rethink their whole process, or am I the only one who treats their own stats like a bad review?
