Why does nobody talk about those expensive online writing courses?

I spent $400 on a 'master class' for fantasy writers that promised a finished outline. The videos were just basic advice I could find for free, and the instructor gave zero feedback. I feel like I got scammed, but maybe some people actually find structure in those paid programs. Has anyone here taken a writing course that was actually worth the money?

I used to defend those courses as a necessary investment. After dropping three hundred dollars on a mystery writing seminar that just rehashed Wikipedia articles, I changed my tune. The real work still happens alone at your desk.

Okay hold up, I gotta disagree a little. I paid for a short course last year that actually forced me to write every single day. The structure was the whole point for me, I would have never done it on my own. It totally depends on the teacher though, you gotta find someone who is actually involved. A lot of them are just selling the same old info for sure.
