Paid $40 for a credit monitoring app that just told me stuff I already knew

I signed up for some fancy credit tracker after a buddy swore by it, but all it did was show my FICO score and a list of my accounts. Total waste of cash when Credit Karma and my bank already give me the same info for free. Anyone else fall for these paid services?

Heard my neighbor grumbling about the same thing after he signed up for a $50 a year credit monitoring service. Turns out it just sent him a monthly report with info his bank already had on their app. He said he felt like an idiot for paying for something he could get for free.

Used to think those services were a no-brainer, but your neighbor's story totally shifted my view. Never realized how much free stuff the banks already offer.
