Pro tip: check your credit report before the bank does it for you
My debit card got cloned at a gas station off I-95 near Florence, SC back in March, and the bank shut the card off before I even knew. When I pulled my free credit report two weeks later to make sure nothing else got opened, I found an old medical bill from 2021 sitting in collections that I never knew about. It was only $212, but it had been dragging my score down for almost two years without me noticing. Has anyone else found junk on their report that way, and did you dispute it online or call the collector straight?
