Turned 30 and realized I've been treating my credit report like a report card for my whole life
It took my credit union telling me my 750 score meant nothing to their loan officer for me to finally understand that carrying a balance every month doesn't build credit (it just builds interest).

The whole "carrying a balance builds credit" thing is such a scam that schools should've taught us about. It reminds me of how people think having a busy calendar means they're successful, or how we treat being tired all the time like a badge of honor. Same energy as folks thinking their car payment needs to be huge to prove they're doing well financially. We've got all these little social lies we tell ourselves to feel better about bad decisions, lol.
