A friend told me my lubed switches felt 'mushy like a wet sponge' and he was right lol

I spent a whole Saturday last month building my first custom board, a TKL with some Gateron Yellows I pre-lubed myself. Thought I did a killer job until my buddy typed on it and said it felt like pressing keys through a bowl of oatmeal. I was kinda hurt at first but then I tried his board with stock switches and the difference hit me. Turns out I went way too heavy on the Krytox 205g0, like globbing it on instead of a thin coat. I ended up pulling all 87 switches, cleaning them with 99% isopropyl, and re-lubing way lighter. Now they sound crisp with just a tiny bit of thock. Has anyone else had to redo a whole lube job because of bad feedback?

Nearly choked on my drink reading about the 87 switches you had to clean one by one, man thats brutal. I thought I was dedicated but you took that whole "learning experience" thing to another level haha. The mental image of you sitting there with 87 tiny springs and stems all laid out on a towel is giving me anxiety honestly. But hey at least you only had to do it once right? Bet youll never go heavy on the lube again.
