A friend's cheap hotswap board made me question my $400 build

So last week my buddy from work brought in this random hotswap board with gateron yellows and some budget keycaps he got for like $60 total. I've been running a custom build I put together over 6 months with lubed switches, brass plate, the whole deal. He let me type on it for a minute and honestly? It felt... fine. Real fine. I kept tapping the keys trying to find something wrong and there just wasn't much. Made me wonder how much of this hobby is actual feel vs just the ritual of building. I'm not saying I'm gonna ditch my setup, but it hit different. Has anyone else had that moment where a cheap board held up way better than it should against a high end one? What was the price gap for you?
