Appreciation post: My $90 hotswap PCB either saved my build or was a total waste compared to soldering

I bought it thinking it would make switch testing easier, but now I'm stuck wondering if the flex from the sockets is worse than just committing to a soldered board and picking one switch for good.

You ever actually type on a hotswap board? That flex is barely there. How is being able to swap switches a waste?

Barely there" flex? You sure you're not just bottoming out?

I saw a breakdown on the Keyboard Cafe forum that measured socket flex. The force needed to bend a hotswap joint was way under what a normal keypress does. Gavine41 has a point about bottoming out feeling different, but that flex isn't hurting the board. For me, being able to test switches without a soldering iron is worth the price.
