Back in 2019 a guy on this forum told me my soldering looked like a spider did it
I was kinda hurt at first but then I looked at my joints and yeah they were messy. He said try using a chisel tip instead of the pointed one I was using. So I switched to a chisel tip and started tinning the wire before putting it through the PCB hole. Now my joints are clean and shiny every time. Has anyone else had a tip like that totally change their build quality?

Isn't it funny how the best advice usually comes from someone blunt enough to tell you the truth? I've noticed that with a lot of things in life, like cooking or fixing stuff around the house. You just need one person to point out what you're doing wrong, and suddenly everything clicks.

Man it's so true though, it's like that thing where you're trying to learn a new skill and nobody wants to hurt your feelings so they just let you keep messing up. But then one person just says "hey you're doing this completely backwards" and suddenly you're actually getting somewhere. That kind of honesty is rare but when you get it you remember it forever.
