Bought a $12 key puller, went back to the paperclip method
I grabbed a fancy wire key puller off Amazon during a sale and figured it would be smoother than my old paperclip trick. Turned out the cheap metal bent on my third switch swap and scratched a keycap pretty bad. The paperclip, bent into a U shape, still works flawlessly and costs nothing. Am I the only one who keeps skipping the purpose-built tools and sticking with the hacky ones?

Ha, been there! I wasted like 15 bucks on one of those metal keycap pullers with the little handles and it snapped on my second use, dinged the corner of my spacebar. The paperclip in my drawer has outlived three of those things now, honestly the bendy wire just fits under caps better without scratching anything. Plus when you lose a paperclip, who cares, there's like 50 more in the junk drawer.
