Bought a soldering station from a garage sale for $15 and it changed how I build
Three years ago I was using a $20 iron from Amazon that kept burning pads. Last month I found a Hakko 888 at a garage sale in Portland for $15. The guy said he used it once and gave up on keyboards. I cleaned the tip and tested it. The temperature control is so stable I can finally do clean joints on a Pro Micro. No more cold solder or lifted traces. The difference is night and day for anyone starting out. Has anyone else found a deal on used gear that just clicked?
