Guy at the Austin meetup handed me his lube brush and said mine was the reason my stabs rattle
Went to a small keyboard meetup in Austin about 8 months ago and I was showing off my first build, a 65% with some cheap stabs that I thought felt fine. This older dude named Ray asked if he could try it, tapped a few keys, then pulled out a tiny brush and a little jar of dielectric grease from his bag. He said "your wires are dry, that's your rattle" and just started brushing my stab wires right there on the table while I watched. I had watched maybe 20 videos on tuning stabs and not one showed someone actually applying the grease in person, I was putting way too little on. He told me to use a brush instead of a q-tip because the fibers don't shed and you get an even coat on the wire bend. I went home and re-did all my stabs that night and the difference was night and day, no more tick on the left shift. Now I keep a cheap brush in my tool bag and I've done it for 3 friends since. Anyone else get shown something in person that no video ever explained right?
