Hot take: I think the push for silent linear switches is making keyboards boring

After building a board with Gateron Oil Kings for my office last week, my coworker in the next cubicle said it sounded like 'expensive rain' and I realized we're losing the satisfying click and clack that made this hobby fun for me three years ago.

What do you miss most about those louder, clickier boards?

Honestly, the pure physical feedback. That solid "clack" at the bottom of every keypress just felt so sure. Typing on my old board was like a little confirmation sound for every single letter. Modern ones feel a bit mushy in comparison, like I'm not totally sure the press registered.

Get why people like that clicky feel but it drives me nuts after a while. Sounds like working in an office full of angry robots. Give me a quiet, smooth press any day. I don't need a loud noise to tell me I typed a letter, my eyes on the screen do that just fine.
