Hot take: spending $150 on a cheap brass plate was a huge mistake for my build

I found out from a post on Deskthority that the density difference between brass plates can cause up to a 20% shift in key feel (who knew right?), and now I'm stuck with a plate that makes my switches sound like loose change in a dryer - has anyone else regretted skimping on plate material?

I read somewhere that brass plates are a total crapshoot unless you pay top dollar.

Did you hear that from the forum over on the Metal Detecting Weekly? I saw a thread there saying the cheap ones are fine if you just want to try it out.
