I never believed in the hype about brass plates until I tried one

For years I thought brass plates were just a gimmick for people with too much money. Then I built a board with a DZ60 and a brass plate from KBDFans about 6 months ago. The weight and sound difference was way bigger than I expected, especially on the bottom out. Anyone else have a component they were totally wrong about?

Brass plates really are one of those things you have to try to get. That bottom out sound change is what got me too, way more thock and less of a hollow ping. If you ever want to go further, try a half plate next time. It leaves the top part of the switch loose so you get that nice clack on the way up but still the weight down low. Way more typing feel than a full brass plate but keeps that heft. Just be ready for the total weight of the board to be a lot more than you expected. It turned my aluminum case into a brick, but I don't mind it now.

Nah, half plates feel flimsy to me. Full brass or nothing.
