I thought lubing switches was a waste of time, but my first build proved me wrong.
For my first custom board, a 65% kit I got last month, I almost skipped lubing the Gateron Yellow switches. I figured the factory lube would be fine. After assembling it, the sound was scratchy and uneven, so I took it all apart. I spent an evening carefully lubing each switch with Krytox 205g0, following a guide. The difference was huge, the typing feel is now smooth and the sound is much more consistent. Has anyone else had a switch type that really needed the extra lube to shine?

Totally get that, had the same shock with some factory-lubed Akko Lavenders. They felt okay but lubing them myself made them feel like a whole different, much better switch.

Wait, they were already lubed from the factory? That's wild. I've only ever gotten them dry. If the factory job was that bad, what are they even doing over there? My dry Lavenders were scratchy as hell out of the box, but at least I knew I had to fix them myself. A pre-lube should make it better, not worse.
