Lube vs no lube on stabilizers, I was team dry until Friday

Built my first board with screw-in stabs last week. Did the whole build dry, no lube. Spacebar sounded like a rattle can. Friend at the meetup in Austin handed me a brush and some 205g0. Told me to stop being stubborn. Spent an hour taking it apart, lubing the wires, putting it back together. Night and day difference. Now I get why everyone hoards that stuff. Question is, how much lube is too much before you get the squishy sound? I used a thin coat but I keep second guessing.

You kept second guessing because you're right to. That 'night and day difference' you heard? That's just the sound of your ears lying to you. 205g0 on the wire is a band-aid for a bad fit. I ran screw-ins bone dry for two years. Zero rattle. Because I bent the wires properly and used the right size washers under the screws. Lube hides sloppy build work. Plus it attracts dust and turns into gritty paste in six months. Then you're back to taking the board apart, but now you're scrubbing gunk off everything. Dry means easier to fix later, cheaper, and it forces you to learn your board instead of covering up the noise. If your spacebar rattles dry, you didn't finish the build.
