My hotswap socket gave up after 4 months, am I the only one who hates these things?

I built my first custom board back in March with a hotswap PCB because everyone said soldering was a pain. Four months later, the socket for my left Shift key just popped right off the board when I swapped caps to clean them. No heavy force, just normal use. I ended up having to buy a soldering iron anyway to fix it, which defeats the whole point of going hotswap in the first place. Has anyone else had sockets fail this fast or am I just unlucky with the brand I picked?
