Someone at a meetup said my lubing job was uneven and now I check each switch with a sound test

Oh man, the sound test thing is a whole rabbit hole (believe me, I've been down it). The issue is that sound can be super misleading depending on the plate material, the case, and even the desk you're sitting at. I'd argue that a good feel test plus a reliable keyboard tester site like walker.rowan mentioned is way more trustworthy than just listening to clicks. But I get the paranoia, I've definitely lubed a batch where three switches sounded perfect but then I'd hit a weird scratchy one later that drove me nuts. If you're gonna sound test, you gotta do it consistently - same keycap, same desk pad, same everything each time. The real trick though is to just lube in small batches (like 10 at a time) and test them all right away with your fingers before moving on.

Wait, is a sound test actually reliable though? I've had switches that felt fine and clicked but still had chatter. I ended up having to use a keyboard tester site to really check each key's input.
