That guy who told me to lube my stab wires was totally right

I fought this for like 6 months. Kept thinking lubing the stabilizer wire was a waste of time and just did the housing. Finally after my last build (a TKL with a rattly spacebar that drove me nuts), I tried it. Put a tiny bit of dielectric grease on the wire ends where they contact the stab housing. The difference was night and day (no more pinging sound). Cost me like $2 for the grease and I already had it laying around. Has anyone else had a specific piece of advice they ignored for way too long before trying it?

Is it really that big of a deal though? I've been building boards for a few years and I always skip lubing the wire. I just put some foam in the case and call it good. The pinging never bugged me that much to be honest.

200 builds and counting here, and I'll admit I've got a few boards where the stabs sound like a dying cricket because I was too lazy to pull them back out. The foam helps a bit but there's a difference between "quiet enough" and "actually sounds good." Some people can't hear the ping, some people hear it and don't care, and then there's the rest of us who hear a slightly off spacebar and immediately start questioning our life choices.
