The $250 gasket mount I bought totally ruined my typing feel

I spent 250 bucks on a fancy gasket mount keyboard kit because everyone said it would be softer and quieter. Installed it last weekend and the flex was so extreme that my keys felt mushy and inconsistent. I tried different foam and plate combos but nothing fixed the bouncy, unstable feeling. My 80 dollar tray mount board from last year types way crisper and more satisfying. I'm honestly thinking about selling the whole gasket kit on mechmarket. Has anyone else regretted chasing the gasket mount trend?

Gasket mounts are just trendy for the sake of being trendy. I tried one with a polycarbonate plate and it felt like typing on a marshmallow that's been left in the sun. The hollowness drove me nuts, especially on the spacebar. My old tray mount board with a brass plate feels way more precise and gives me that crisp bottom out I actually want. People act like gasket is the only way to get a good sound, but my tray mount board sounds better than most of those flexy boards I hear in sound tests.

Oh man, @webb.jordan just nailed it. My buddy Tom dropped $300 on a similar gasket kit and had the EXACT same problem. He tried swapping plates three times and even bought different foams but the spacebar still sounded so hollow it echoed. He finally put his old tray mount back together and said the typing felt like going from a soggy sponge to a crisp apple. Tom ended up selling that gasket board on mechmarket for half what he paid, and now he just laughs at all the flex hype.
