A guy at the Columbus library handed me a 'free' USB stick and I want to warn everyone
Last Thursday at the main branch on Grant Ave, a guy in a polo shirt was going around the computer desks saying he found a bunch of lost USB drives in the parking lot and was handing them out to anyone who'd take one. My gut said no, but the lady next to me plugged hers right in and within seconds her screen froze and a box popped up asking for her bank login. Turns out it was a rubber ducky style attack, and the library staff said they'd seen 3 of these in the past couple weeks. Has anyone else run into the 'found USB in the parking lot' trick at their local spot?
Had the same thing happen at a gas station near me and I just walked straight to the cashier and told them, dude took off before anyone plugged anything in. Best move is never touch the thing, just hand it to staff so they can toss it.
