A weird login attempt from a coffee shop in Seattle last month made me check my settings

I got an alert for a sign-in from a city I wasn't in, and it turned out an old device I'd left logged in was still active. Has anyone else had a scare from a forgotten tablet or laptop?

and honestly the part that gets me about this is nobody is talking about how these old devices can still have payment info saved on them. like yeah the kindle is just checking for books but what about that old fire tablet you gave to your kid or the laptop you sold on facebook marketplace. i format everything twice now before getting rid of stuff because even a factory reset doesnt always clear saved credit cards or addresses. one time i found an old phone in a drawer and it still had my paypal logged in from like 2017. that alert from seattle probably saved you from way bigger headache down the road.

Found an old Kindle still logged into my Amazon account. It was in a box in the attic for two years, but apparently still checking for updates. Made me go through and log out of everything on every old gadget. That little alert was a good kick in the pants.

@gavine41 that kindle was probably still trying to download a book you bought in 2019. Good reminder to check old stuff though.
