Chat with a neighbor about his router setup last night...

My neighbor Mark is in his 70s and he told me he's been using the same wifi password since 2008... I asked why and he said he never saw a reason to change it. That got me thinking about how often we really should update our home network passwords... what's your rule of thumb for rotating router passwords?

It's funny you mention that, because I've noticed the same thing with my older neighbors too. They just set it and forget it, like it's a landline number from the 90s. But then again, most folks I know under 40 change their passwords about as often as they change their car's oil, which is to say, not until something breaks. What's the real danger anyway, unless you're living next to a hacker?

Wait, isn't it more dangerous if you actually DO live next to a hacker? Like what if your neighbor's dumb router password accidentally makes you the easier target?
