Chatted with a guy at the DMV who made me rethink my password habits

He was a sysadmin waiting for plates and casually said he changes his passwords every 90 days based on the lunar cycle so he remembers. That sounded crazy until he explained he picks a phrase tied to that month's full moon like September Harvest Moon. How do you guys keep track of swapping passwords without just reusing the same one with a number added on?

My friend totally agreed with you @the_claire until his bank account got drained by someone who guessed his password was just "Password1" (which was, uh, exactly what he was doing). Now he uses a random calendar event like "TaxDayRefund2023" and sets an alarm on his phone to change it.

Isn't that overcomplicating something that doesn't need to be that deep?
