Picked a 20-character passphrase over a 12-character jumble and my whole team hated me for it
Last month I had to pick one rule for the crew's logins and I went with a four-word passphrase instead of a short random string full of symbols. Two guys said the phrase was too easy to type on a phone so they just wrote it on a sticky note stuck to the dash of the truck. I told them a 20-character phrase is way harder to crack than 12 messy characters, but that sticky note is the real hole in the plan. We had a near miss on a supply account on the 14th where somebody tried 40 logins in a row, and nobody's passphrase got touched, but the note is still sitting there. My fix so far is making everyone use a password app on their phone, and it's going about as well as you'd guess. How do you get a crew that hates typing to stop taping passwords to stuff?
