Appreciation post: my $12 keychain light outlasted a $90 headlamp

Was doing some late night electrical work under the sink and realized my little Olight i1R 2 EOS has been running strong for 3 years now, while my fancy headlamp died after 8 months of basic use. Anyone else find the cheap backup gear ends up being the real workhorse in their daily rotation?

Was it just the battery that gave out on the headlamp, or did the actual light stop working? I always wonder if these expensive ones fail because of poor build quality or if people just treat them worse since they cost more. There's something to be said for gear you don't have to baby, and my cheap stuff usually ends up in the same drawer as my good stuff anyway.
