My old canvas work bag outlasted my new leather one, here's the proof

I bought a $140 leather messenger back in March for client meetings and my 30 year old canvas tool bag from my apprenticeship is still holding up better after 8 months of daily abuse, the leather one already has a torn strap stitch. Anyone else find that the gear you actually USE hard beats the stuff you buy to look professional?

Man, this hits home hard. It’s like everything nowadays is made to look good on a shelf but falls apart the second you actually need it. I’ve noticed the same pattern with tools, shoes, even furniture. The stuff built for real work just quietly keeps going while the fancy stuff fails fast. Maybe we’re paying for the look instead of the function, and that’s backwards.
