My trusty $20 phone mount finally died during a drive through Portland traffic

I was heading home on I-5 last Tuesday and my phone just flew off the dashboard vent mount. The little plastic claw that holds it snapped clean off after 2 years of daily use. I had to pull over and wedge my phone between the cup holders and a water bottle to keep using GPS. Has anyone else had a cheap mount fail at the worst possible time?

Lost mine on the 405 last month. Scary loud crash sound. The suction cup just let go mid corner. My phone slid down between the seat and center console. Had to dig it out at a stoplight while cars honked. Cheap mounts are a ticking time bomb.

Dude, the "ticking time bomb" thing is so real. I had one of those cheapos with the sticky gel pad and it flew off my windshield on a hot day, phone smacked right off my gear shifter. Ended up wedged under the brake pedal for a second before I could pull over. Scared the hell out of me and I was just going 35 on a side street.
